I brought this up in a history class, even with brutalist architecture in your socialist utopia, not all parts of it are REALLY equal... Some rooms are going to have a better view, and I wouldn't be surprised if Soviet officials when needing to stay in these places got themselves either a floor room for quick exiting/entering or a top floor to get a nice view using their status...

In a story I'm working on we have The Chosen One. Her choseness isn't really explained - like, she was raised by a cult, she has superpowers, she has a special status as the chosen one, but I'm not going into details about what she was chosen for and how. Anyhow, she usually leads the other cast members, and among other responsibilities, she has to choose which plot thread among the many I'm weaving they'll focus on in this arc. One time, after they, again, drop everything to go after a hunch of hers and end up saving someone last second, another character ask the Chosen's best friend: "You're supposed to be the psychic one yet she always finds the right people to help or stop! How does she do that?!" And the psychic says that they have no idea, but she's the chosen one abd it appears to come with an undefindable sense of 'this way to save the day' that doesn't actually help her save the day because the aforementioned psychic is super useful I haven't really thought of this as lanpshading until now, but yeah, it is

22:25 Being part of one of those reconstructed neo-pagan religions, I gotta agree. There's a line between respectful use of different traditions and cultural appropriation. Generally, so long as its source and context is understood and respected, I see no issue in incorporating such a thing in one's own beliefs. For example, a Native American friend of mine invited me to and taught me how to perform a traditional smudging ceremony using sage, sweet grass, and tobacco. This was something I, a white man, was invited to do, and I was honored to receive instruction - and it has become a part of my spiritual practice. Conversely, there are those who incorporate traditions from cultures without regard to their origins or practices, such as some who invoke the names of the lwa or loa. Again, I think it depends greatly on the culture being discussed and the context surrounding it. Great video.

Really ! ! ! ! I don't most country can mondernize this quick !! ! Japan literally jumped centuries of modernizing in just a few decades.. Consdier USA to go from horses to Cars n airplanes, took from 1800's to 1939.. That is like 140 years.. Japan did it in 1/3 of that time.. It's their culture of constant have to rebuild from earthquakes, that they can also re-invent themselves... It's part nature n nuture from your surrondings.. If they were in non earthquake zones, maybe they would not have the mental discpline to do this.. Remember Japan had more earthquakes than both China n Korea, so those nations don't how it feels or the expeirence to rebuild constantly every so year.. It took much longer for China n Korea to catch up to Japan..

Dude, your WRONG ! ! ! Why do Americans, always think everyone's the same.. NO they are not.. Different people, have differen strokes.. Reason Japan was able to modernize so quick, is because they have a very cooperative society - they learn to work together, when they are held together, like in this instance of the Emporer taking charge.. Korea or even China could not have done it, at this time.. Only Japan could of, because they had the right structure made.. Eventually Korea n China did modernize but not this quick.. Those two other nations, do not have that cooperative society or cooperative culture as Japan.. Americans have to learn that, just as different sects of the same type of animals do things different, so does the world.. American for the last decades, have tried n tried to make the world be them.. World is not.. Soon it be very evident.. Such arrogance..

One thing I noticed in the comics is that the only heros available to fight the threat are the ones that will be challenged by the bad guy. Thor and Iron Man are never around for the villains they could beat in three panels, but have some free time for Thanos or Ultron issues. That way, the Avengers are always the underdogs.

It’s actually fascinating that we even have enough recorded history to begin speculating on who Walter Raleigh thought he was talking about, because many of the Spanish captains and generals kept personal diaries and were able to read and write. Sometimes you’d even have someone who could read and write and WASN’T born a nobleman, so their accounts are usually especially neutral; plus they viewed their ability to read and write as an aspect of their gained station, so were passionate about putting it to use. They kept really descriptive journals and are some of the most interesting firsthand accounts of cultures colliding.

My favourite works with brutalist influence are the Zaisan Memorial and the Yugoslavian brutalist monuments (they feel so overworldly even when too pretentious)

Another interesting twist on this is where the character being the last of their kind becomes a justification to prevent a similar fate by *any* means imagineable. I.E. Thanos, who sets out to ensure that the universe needs not face extinction through exploitation, by wiping out half of all life in a bid to preserve abundant resources for the half that remain. In the Marvel films, this motivation is given by Thanos as a strait-on and noble cause, but there are hints that his centuries spent on his quest have jaded and corrupted him, or at least worn away the visage of purpose. Furthermore, all that time could have surely been better used by simply developing a more sensible solution with the promise of unlimited possibilities. Perhaps, being the last of ones kind to Thanos means that any deviation to a decided end means that his species will never be avenged, so no matter how tired, bored, hate-filled, and disillusioned he becomes, it is all there is to him, his only destined purpose. This is all assuming there is still any true belief from Thanos left in his plans, and that he isn't doing it partly or purely out of enjoyment and complacency. There are certainly hints of that, but the films do an excellent job of never really showing their hand.
